Website Updates and Miscellany

I’ve updated a few things since the initial website launch. I dropped the outside sidebars, improved navigation, made the mobile site at least somewhat presentable, and made a handful of other small improvements. None of that really matters to new visitors, of course, but changes were made and I made them. Huzzah!
Alas, the site is not responsive. That is a change I decided not to make. A friend mentioned they preferred responsive websites and I thought, “Wait, it’s not responsive?” Then I thought, “What’s ‘responsive’ again?” After a bit of research, I once again thought, “Wait, it’s not responsive?” I had assumed it was at least partially so, but no.
The standard Wix Editor is built for easy plug-and-play website creation. For a more comprehensive and flexible site, Wix offers Wix Studio, which is a completely separate and distinct website builder.
I think Wix might have mentioned this at some point, but once you sign up they begin inundating you with upgrade offers by email, and you eventually just tune them out. I was fairly disgruntled to discover I had built the entire site in the standard editor, only to learn it would never quite have the polish of a fully responsive design. I looked into Wix Studio in the hope of converting the site and no. While Wix Editor and Wix Studio are both website builders made by Wix, there is no cross-compatibility between them. To move the site to Wix Studio, I would have to start from scratch. Not just the design, but reconnecting the domain and re-uploading every art asset as well.
I thought about it and decided that could be a problem for some unspecified future time. Thanks a whole lot, Wix, for making two different website builders, not clearly explaining the distinction, and then not making them work together in any way. Good job!
I also finished illustrating all of the site headers, which I am very glad to have behind me. They were looming over my head, and I wanted them finished before starting new content. I can procrastinate like anyone else in the world, but once I commit to a task I tend to laser focus until it is done. As a result, I have been steadily chipping away at headers for quite a while now. With those complete, I can finally move on.
First up is editing the first chapter of the first Carbunkle! story. Once that is posted, I can properly get the rest of the project moving. I have felt a bit stalled for a while due to various obstacles and deterrents, but most of those are now cleared. Forward motion resumes.
Hopefully the real world can hold itself together long enough for me to keep building a fictional one without further distraction...
